Today's New York Times front page reports that the collapse of the honeybee population is the result of a virus and fungus that "proliferate in cool, damp weather." Yet elsewhere on the Times Web site, a "Times topics" page on bees insists ideologically, "Honeybees can adapt to minor changes in global warming, but Colony Collapse Disorder is the most recent bittersweet reminder that human society threatens honeybee habitats and breeding patterns on a global scale." Amazing how "human society" and "global warming" can get blamed for a virus and fungus that proliferate in cool weather.
