Exports of natural gas from America to overseas — the topic of posts here in May and June — are the topic of a column in today's Wall Street Journal by John Bussey, who opines, sensibly: "Best, says Brookings, for the government to neither promote nor limit exports. Let the market do the work. Which may be the best advice of all." The Journal column notes that a big opponent of allowing the exports is Dow Chemical, which "burns a lot of natural gas in its plants." Dow is a big pal of the Obama administration, and Dow CEO Andrew Liveris was one of the small group of business leaders who met with President Obama this week, so it will be interesting to see what happens here.
